The Costa Group is the largest Italian travel group and the Europe’s number one cruise operator. It is integral part of Carnival Corporation & plc, the world’s biggest cruise operator with more than 103 ships; The Costa Group comprises the brands Costa Cruises S.p.A., AIDA Cruises and Costa Asia.

With 27 ships on service and 76'000 available beds offered, The Costa Group is headquartered in Genoa (Italy) and sails to over 250 destinations worldwide in the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, The Baltic Sea, The Caribbean, Central and South America, the United Arab Emirates, the Far East, the Indian Ocean, the Red Sea, plus Round-the-World cruises. It is expected within 2021 that 6 ships of new generation will be integrated to the fleet, according to criteria of responsible innovation that is marking a new trend in the cruise industry.

From 70 years, Costa Cruises represents hospitality and Italian style.

From the beginning, we operate with passion to make our guests find the most wonderful places all over the world, offering them the opportunity to explore new countries and to meet different cultures, with respect for their identities.

As the only Cruise Company sailing the Italian flag, we need the duty and the prestige for being ambassador of Italian values in the world and for representing Italy along the destinations during our itineraries.

For us in Costa, the responsible innovation plays a fundamental role when designing future ships and developing onboard experience, that we plan and organize with great attention for details to offer an oriented holiday towards local cultures in order to be more and more responsible travellers.

Since our first voyage with Anna C on the 31st March 1948 from Genoa to Buenos Aires, it was 70 years ago, we sail all over the world bringing the Italian flag with pride, yesterday as nowadays.

We have never stopped. During all these years, we collected many stories: one for each of our ships. For example, the Franca C was the first ship in the world built for cruising. It was the 1957. Time after time, shapes, sizes and design changed and we introduced balconies in the most of cabins; the preferences and the needs of guests evolved, but our values and promises did not change, such as the focus of constantly putting guest at the centre of our thoughts.

This is the reason why we marked a route looking for innovation and responsible development as pillars of our future; as a matter of the fact, we are engaged to minimize the environmental impact over destinations we visit with you, together.

After three days of hard working and learning, the participants of the International Careers Festival are now facing the International Careers Fair. In this whirl of opportunities, the European Commission’s stands captures the attention. At their stand it is possible to be informed about different projects such as the European Solidarity Corps or the Eures. The European Commission works with translators too and offers three different possibilities to them.  The first is the internship. Every year the European Union offers paid or not paid internships t o graduates that want to acquire a professional experience as a translator. The trainers are selected  between European citizens and citizens belonging to accessing countries. According to the disponibility, some institutions could accept trainers coming from extra-European countries. It is possible to apply doing the online application. Once you are selected you are in a so-called blue book list and you might be called in order to do an internship  which lasts 5 months. When the internship is paid  you will receive 1100€ at month. The application are opened twice a year: in March and in October. The second possibility you have is a free-lance career.  It is not a permanent contract and it is annual. Each translator can renew the contract for a maximum of six years and a competitive tender is made each 4/5 years. Then,  the possibility to work with a permanent contract as translator is the EPSO competition, which is defined by a test of logical reasoning and communication. Then, you are called for an interview. When you win the tender you are in a list from which the names are drawn. In every situations, the required target languages are: Bulgarian, Czech, Croatian, Danish, Finnish, French, Greek,  English, Irish,  Italian, Lettish, Lithuanian, Maltese, Netherlands, Polish,  Portuguese, Romanian, Slovakian, Slovenian, Spanish,  Swedish, German and Ungherian generally in combination with English, French or German. You will have the opportunity to work for the various European  organs such as European Commission, the European Parliament among the others. Thanks to the European Union you can the chance to prove your skills,  improve them and working as a real translator. Do not miss this chance!

Startups and less known ONGs are well represented at International Career Festival 2017, along with bigger companies and associations like Barel or UNICEF. Some of them shared with us what they can offer to the participants of the fair and what they are expecting from it.

JustKnock! – Stand 27

JustKnock! (justknock.it) is an online platform that connects ideas and opportunities. It was founded in March 2015 by Marianna Poletti on a simple but radical principle: don’t let your CV define who you are.

On their website you can either apply to a job offer by creating your own project or submit your original ideas to the company you love.

Alice Giacomelli (Events & PR): “What we want is to foster meritocracy. That is why, when someone send his or her idea to our website, companies cannot see who he or she is until they are interested in it. We are here to meet young, passionate people, to advise them both on job seeking and as startuppers.”

Alphagamma – Stand 16

A business portal for millennials, Alphagamma (alphagamma.eu) is a digital magazine that focus on career advices, updates on finance and entrepreneurship and education opportunities.

On their website you can sign in for a free consultation on your ideas, and you can also download a mobile app to keep you updated on everything’s new in the business and marketing world.

Arthur Gopak (CEO & Editor-in-chief): “The International Career Fair is a great opportunity for us to meet new professionals we can help, and anyone who’s interested in business development, marketing, journalism and writing.”

Inside Factory – Stand 13

A startup created one year ago at VoipVoice, an ICT company with more than ten years of experience, Inside Factory (insidefactory.it) provides both digital and professional training. Tuscany based but covering the whole country, they help companies with their blogs and social media management, and organize workshops and conferences.

Martina Giacomelli (Marketing & Sales Manager): “Being at the Career Fair is a chance for us to better understand what are the interests and ideas of students and young people. It is as well extremely useful as an exchange of views with other companies and associations on professional training.”

ONE – Stand 26

ONE (one.org) is not actually what you’d call a small ONG. Founded by Bono Vox, singer and leader of U2, at the end of the last century, it can now count on more than 7 million members around the world. Still, the Italian branch of the organisation is small, but growing fast. A campaigning and advocacy ONG, their focus is on poverty, preventable illnesses (like HIV, malaria or tuberculosis) and guaranteeing children their access to education.

Nicola (Volunteer): “ONE is currently promoting two campaigns, ‘Poverty is sexist’ and ‘#GirlsCount’. Last week Italian volunteers met with vice-presidents of parliament to launch the ONE Youth Ambassador program in Italy. We are here to advocate for ONE campaigns and recruit youth ambassadors to support us all over the country, putting pressure on politician both at a national and at a local level.”

Lunaria – Stand 11

Lunaria (lunaria.org) is a voluntary association organising international work-camps in partnership with the Alliance of the European Voluntary Service Organisations, a network with more than 50 associations promoting young volunteering around the world.

Flavia (volunteer): “Our association want to inform young people on volunteering as well as promote peace, solidarity and fighting racism. Our camps are an extraordinary opportunity to get to know different lifestyles from more than 60 countries while volunteering for a good cause.”

On the 13th and 14th of March the International Careers Fair took place at the UNINT of Rome. It is an opportunity for students of all ages to come across several and diverse chances to apply for students’ exchange programmes, University courses, interniships and volunteering programmes in Italy and abroad. Walking inside the exhibition pavillon is the perfect way to taste the international and intercultural flavour of the Fair.

Exploring students’ exchange programmes, the World Education Program offers a wide range of choices. WEP was born in Belgium in 1988 and it owns 5 official offices in Italy nowadays(Milan, Turin, Bologna, Udine and Rome). This organization covers all ages, starting from high school programmes to employment opportunities and internship opportunities in companies. WEP promotes cultural, educational and linguistic adventures in 62 countries, dealing with 20 different languages.

Among all those organizations, there is Fulbright that started in Italy in 1948 and became a bi-national program in 1975. “The Fulbright Program” was established in 1946 by the U.S. Congress to “enable the government of the United States to increase mutual understanding between the people of the U.S. and the people of other countries”. Fulbright offers 7 scholarships to all disciplines up to a total of $38.000, 2 scholarships for MBA up to $100.000 in cooperation with Ethenea and one scholarship to law students up to $20.000.

Since the global hospitality industry is experiencing an unprecedented level of growth, the Business & Hotel Management School of Lucerne City in Switzerland trains the global leaders of the future. B.H.M.S. allows students to choose between the Degree in Hotel & Hospitality Management and the Degree in Global Business Management. The peculiarity of this School is that each year is divided in 6 months of lessons and 6 months of internships paid up to 2.000 euros. B.H.M.S. includes the Culinary Academy that introduces students to the world of food production through basic operation techniques and hands-on core competency training.

If you are a student looking for practical experience in global development the World Bank’s Internship may be right for you. It offers highly motivated and successful individuals an opportunity to improve their skills while working, the Bank Internship seek students specializing in economics, finance, human development, social science and other related field. Internships are at minimum 4 weeks and at maximum 3 months.

AIESEC is the biggest organization in the world run only by students. It offers students the chance to be citizens of the world and to acquire the experience and the skills that the job market requires today. AIESEC internship programme abroad is called Global Talent. It provides graduated students with the opportunity to live a real professional experience in the field of Marketing, Teaching and Business. The main destinations are India, Colombia, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Russia, China, Spain and Brazil.

In conclusion, for those interested in volunteering as a very valuable and learning experience, there is Lunaria. Lunaria is an Association for Social Promotion. It was founded in 1992 and it is defined as a non governmental body, autonomous from religious and political affiliations and not-profit. The activities of the association are based on research and action research, training and communication on several social issues. Lunaria believes in the importance of informal and non formal education through the promotion of international voluntary service. Lunaria sends over 400 volunteers to short-term initiatives abroad therefore, it definitely represents the international set and background of this event.
