Organization: Demos is Britain’s leading cross-party think-tank and an independent, educational charity, registered in England and Wales. It produces original research, publish innovative thinkers and host thought-provoking events. The centre has spent over 20 years at the centre of the policy debate, with an overarching mission to bring politics closer to people. Demos has always been interested in power: how it works and how to distribute it more equally throughout society. The organization also believes in trusting people with decisions about their own lives and solving problems from a bottom-up perspective


Duty station: London


Open to: All those interested and possessing the required qualifications


Timeframe: 3 months with a full-time contract


Deadline: On a rolling basis. During the year there are four different deadlines:

- Summer 2017 (Jun to Sept): March 31st 2017

- Autumn 2017 (Sept to Dec): May 29th 2017

- Winter 2018 (Jan to Apr): September 29th 2017

- Spring 2018 (Apr to Jun): 1 Jan 2018


Job description: Research internships at Demos enable current and recent students to gain first-hand insight into qualitative and quantitative public policy research in a fast-paced environment, as well as the opportunity to attend exciting political events and activities. Interns are supported and mentored throughout their placement, but also given opportunities to work independently and to produce blogs and other research that supports Demos’ objectives.

Demos offers two types of internship:

- Research placements are offered within each of its core research programmes

- Communications and Events placements support its busy external affairs team

Qualifications: Ideal candidates should be in possess of the following qualifications:

- Demonstrable interest in and enthusiasm for the research area  

- Experience of qualitative and/or quantitative research  

- Ability to organise and express thoughts and ideas, both verbally and in writing  

- Ability to work on your own initiative

- Experience of charity/third sector environment (desired but not essential)


Wage/Fee: A minimum national wage will be provided but on condition that candidates make sure that they are allowed to receive an institutional funding for the placement program. For further information about this visit the PDF document on the vacancy page
