Organization: EASA’s mission is: to ensure the highest common level of safety protection for EU citizens; to ensure the highest common level of environmental protection; to facilitate the internal aviation single market and create a level playing field; to work with other international aviation organisations and regulators


Duty Station: Cologne, Germany


Open to: Young university graduates who have completed at least three years of university education and at students who have completed at least two years of university studies and intend to do a voluntary or mandatory traineeship


Timeframe: 3-6 months


Deadline: The closing date for sending applications is indicated in each traineeship notice


Job description: The programme gives trainees an understanding of the Agency and its role within the activities of the European Union. A traineeship at the Agency is an opportunity to receive professional work experience in a distinctly multinational and intellectually stimulating environment, while contributing to the Agency's mission of promoting the highest common standards of safety and environmental protection in civil aviation in Europe and worldwide



- nationals of a Member State of the European Union or nationals of Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Switzerland  

- have a very good knowledge of English and at least one other Community language

- have completed at least two years of University studies

- background that is relevant to the activities of the Agency, such as Civil aviation, Aeronautics, Engineering

Ideal candidates are:

- qualified lawyers with an interest in aviation regulatory affairs

- qualified candidates with an interest in Human Resources, Finance, Project management, Information technologies, Communications, Public Relations and International Relations


Wage/fees:  The Agency pays a monthly grant plus a travel allowance for travel expenses incurred at the beginning and end of the traineeship


Application process:

New traineeship positions may be published in 2016. Check the website for the updates.

EASA will establish a list of eligible and suitable applicants whose applications and educational background, qualifications, competences, motivations and preferences suit best the identified needs in accordance with the availability of places. Before a final decision is taken candidates are tested over the phone to check availability, suitability, linguistic knowledge and to discuss reciprocal expectations. The telephone interview is held in English. Finally, the Agency's Executive Director selects the trainees based on the list of suitable applicants and on the number of places available. Selected candidates are informed in writing and receive all necessary information concerning the traineeship. Please read carefully the EASA’s FAQ and rules before submitting your application
