Edited by Amantia Bali

International Career Festival is an incredible opportunity for young students interested in the world of international affairs. But this is only possible by staff working behind the scenes, not just during the days of the festival but before it happens.

The preparation of the festival starts in July, when the association “Giovani nel mondo” selects both ex participants of previous editions and new forces using networks, advertisements and encouraging people to spread the voice.

In order to train the staff, the association organizes workshops and training sessions in September in which they explain everything about the festival, how it works, what they will have to do. Tutors are the first and substantial contact with the participants, bringing them to the event by emails with instructions and steps to follow. In the event, they are responsible for sharing information about which tasks should participants fulfil.

The staff gives information about what is happening in the games, informs the others about extra events and takes care of the accomodation.

Organizing events is not always a simply task, sometimes it requires great decisional skills, since there could be many things to cope with. The International Carreers Festival would not be possible without the planning of directors of 2017 games and staff, who helped to build the event as a hole.

The most important projects among which you can choose are: Rome MUN (the largest diplomatic simulation of the United Nations), Rome Business Game (dedicated to the business world, international markets, marketing and business management) , Rome Press Game (dedicated to the international world of  journalism).

Determination, willpower and commitment are essential ingredients to achieve one’s goals.

An example of how it is possible to make a dream come true is represented by Eleonora Mantovani, program director of the Rome Press Game 2017. Rome Press Game is the first world simulation of a newsroom, on different levels (Radio, Web and Television). When she was only 25, after several experiences in journalism and collaborations with many online newspapers, she was chosen to cover this role, which entails high responsibilities.

“I tried, with the supervision of the president of “Giovani nel Mondo” association Daniela Conte, to make the Press Game the heart of the International Careers Festival, the voice of the Festival, thanks to the work of 85 participants. With regards to the organization, it is difficult to be able to create dynamic and multicultural teams, and not to distinguish people according to their nationality, so as to allow all of them to experiment with the three levels of radio, TV and writing. It has also been challenging to find skilled tutors.

“Tutors have been excellent in their work and they worked in a professional way”.
Team 1 was coached by the young journalist, Arianna Alessi, graduated in Communication, passionate about semiotics and symbols. She published articles related to fashion and contemporary art. In the last year Arianna ghostwrote for Huffington Post and collaborated with the press office of the 16th Art Quadriennal of Rome.

The aim of the Rome Press Game is to let people understand their aspirations and skills. Eleonora Mantovani’s main suggestion was to work better and better, to not be discouraged, and to send the curriculum, as she did. She accepted the challenge: chairing the press game and go on with her academic career at the same time. Her work has been recognized.

“There will always be people who will criticize you, many obstacles, but it is important to be determined to face our challenges better and better.”

Emilia Mazzullo

More than 800 young people were feeling excited for the opening ceremony of the International Careers Festival. Saturday morning the auditorium of “Confindustria” in Tupini street was filled with the energy of hundreds of students. Each of the eight speakers has explained something about his specific skills. Mr. Luca Marco Girladin von Lahnstein opened the ceremony. He also mediated and introduced the speech of Monika Altmaier director of Human Resources, Daniela Conte President of the Giovani nel Mondo Association, Ebenezer Esslfie Nyame Secretary of RomeMUN, Eleonora Mantovani Director of Rome Press Game, Paolo Petrocelli President Youth Committee UNESCO Italy and Eva Ratti Find your Doctor Founder. All participants had also the opportunity to listen to the speech of the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Deputy Political Director Francesca Tardioli. The ceremony started with a street music band's show of the “Banda Garibaldina di Poggio Mirteto who played as first song the hymn of Mameli. «It was a great ceremony – says Valentina Di Bari, one of the member of “Rome Press Game” - even if longer than we thought. Probably was a bit difficult to follow each speaker all the time. In general there was lot of enthusiasm all over the auditorium. The most important thing that we understand is how many creativity and innovation there are behind the job you love». The participants asked several interesting things to understand better the speakers' skills and their job. One of the suggestions was to discover “who you are” in order to feel “who you want become”.

The second edition of the Business Game is waiting for you!

After a great success of the first edition, the Rome Business Game remains one of four projects of the International Careers Festival 2017. This project is especially focused on the world of business, marketing and business management and its aim is to engage students and graduate students interested in economic matters, excited to test themselves getting in touch with the most important business and economic realities. For more information, please visit our website

Around 300 places are available for the Rome Business Game and 30 scholarships have been made available by the Giovani nel Mondo Association. Future candidates will be divided into two categories: a Junior Team, especially designed for high school and university students studying up to the first year of master, and an Expert Team, for students at their senior year or graduated students.

The Rome Business Game is a unique opportunity for professional and personal growth, winners of both teams, in fact, will have the chance to start their own career. For the Junior Team offers for an internship will be made available by some important companies while members of the Expert Team will be recruited for an internship in some major international companies.

Participants will have the opportunity to meet business and marketing experts, acting as judges, as they propose innovative solutions/products to challenges presented by those same experts. They will also be developing and refining a set of soft skills which are often overlooked yet essential for career success: learning the techniques for proper business management, analysis and insight of business dynamics, team working, and practical problem solving. The Rome Business Game allows participants to take part in a truly multicultural environment, working in English and developing managerial and technical skills which are extremely important in today’s competitive international job market.

Some profit and no-profit associations made great contribution to the first edition of the Rome Business Game. Some of them are: UNICEF, Save the Children, Deloitte, Sara Assicurazioni, Rainbow and Hilton Waldorf Astoria. This year Alitalia is one of the most important official partners of the Festival which will offer delegates some new exciting challenges and precious opportunities to start an internship in their agencies.
